Your Activepieces instance is already on your own server. The rule is one job, one approval, one week. The next useful AI move is a supervised job that removes a recurring admin chore from your calendar. The job should run quietly.

  • Pick one repeating task.
  • Connect one named app action.
  • Require human approval before the final send.
  • Log hours saved for seven days before adding anything else.

Activepieces 0.92.0 was published on September 24, 2026. It included an AI Router feature for flows. It added AI-agent atomics, the small actions an AI can take, for WordPress, WooCommerce, IMAP, and Google My Business. That list is easy to overread. Treat one of those actions as a single job.

The task should cost you the same minutes every week

Choose a task you can name in one sentence. Repeating a familiar question, moving a new item into a record, or drafting a reply all work. The task should repeat often enough that the saved time shows up in a week, but simple enough that a wrong answer is cheap to catch. A good first task is the one you already hate. Boring is a good sign. It should have a clear input, a clear output, and a low cost of failure. Avoid tasks that involve money, legal language, or a customer relationship you cannot repair.

Write the test as a line: when something happens in one place, a draft should appear in another. Without that line, the task is not ready. With it, stop there. Do not add a second task, a second app, or a second model.

A short flow beats a clever one

Open the flow and give it a name that describes the job, not the technology. A descriptive name beats a vague test name. Use the app action that matches the task: WooCommerce for a store order, IMAP for an email.

Keep the path short. Trigger, a few app actions, one AI step, one output. Activepieces 0.92.0 added a Deno code sandbox. Use it to test a small transformation without touching the main flow. A ready flow runs end to end and produces a draft, leaving the final send to you.

The approval gate is the real automation

Insert a human approval step before the final send. The AI may draft, summarize, or suggest. It may not send. You review the draft, approve it, or reject it. That single pause turns a risky automation into a supervised job.

Avoid letting the AI draft and send in one motion. If the approval step feels annoying, that is the point. You are adding margin: a few seconds of review now instead of a wrong message later in your day.

A ready gate appears as a notification or queue item that clearly asks for review. You should be able to approve from the same place you already check work. A setup fails when the approval lives in a new dashboard you must open all day long.

Seven days of hours is the only upgrade

Run the flow for one week. Log the hours saved, not the dollars. A simple note is enough: task, minutes saved, draft approved or rejected. Keep the note boring for the whole week and nothing else. At the end of the week, add the numbers. A small total means the task was too small or the flow was too slow. A real total earns the right to add one more step.

When the week ends, keep the job if it saved time. Otherwise, retire it and choose another task to try next time.
